David Ladensohn

David Ladensohn is the author of Fly-Fishing with Leonardo da Vinci, which describes
Leonardo’s philosophy and life as a hydraulic and military engineer, illustrates his unique
knowledge and beautiful drawings of river currents; and explains why he would have
made the perfect fly-fishing guide. David never planned to write a book, but felt
compelled to get these little-known drawings in front of anglers and the general public.
A native of San Antonio, David has been an avid fly-fisherman for 42 years and now
chases trout around the southern hemisphere in winter. He served as chairman of the
board of Broadway Bank and is currently vice-chairman of the of the nation’s largest food
distributor and 9 th largest private company.
After a career in international banking and manufacturing, David started Water Funds,
LP, a Western water rights investment firm and trained as a mediator, specializing in
resolving family business disputes.
David graduated in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
and International Business from Pepperdine University. A lover of continuing education,
he has completed programs in mediation and business strategy at Harvard Law and
Business Schools and most recently spent six months at the Oxford Next Horizons
Program in England. More importantly, he has been married 52 years to Claudia Saxon
Ladensohn; their daughter is a photographer in Los Angeles and their infant grandson is
remarkably cute and smart.
